Welcome to the John Reily Chapter, NSDAR! We are an established, vibrant chapter of the DAR. We began as a chapter in Hamilton, Ohio on February 15, 1896, only six years after the national organization was founded. John Reily was the first chapter chartered in Butler County. Our chapter is made up of a diverse group of women who all have a joint interest in keeping American history alive.
The DAR was founded in 1890. It is a lineage-based society established to honor ancestors who risked their lives and fortunes for the cause of independence. As a non-profit, volunteer service organization, its mission is threefold: to preserve history, to promote patriotism, and to support education.
The heart and soul of the DAR rests in the women who make up our membership. We are women with various backgrounds coming from all walks of life, yet share a common bond of tracing our ancestry to those who helped gain our nation’s independence.
How to become a member: Any woman 18 years of older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join the DAR. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage and death, as well as of the American Revolutionary War service of her Patriot ancestor. Visit DAR.org for more information.
